Jazz Arts Group’s PBJ & Jazz, a concert series that introduces jazz to young children and their families, returns this weekend for another slate of exciting and educational shows in the beautiful Lincoln Theatre ballroom. Hosted by retired music educator, former Columbus Music Hall owner and current Bungalow Jazz operator Becky Ogden, these 1-hour interactive concerts help to expose young audiences to the magic of live music, with some of the area’s greatest musicians taking part. Due to popular demand, each scheduled concert will continue to include two performance times: 10am and 11:30am. The season gets off to a strong start on Saturday, November 14th with up-and-coming vocalist Liz Woolley accompanied by the Aaron Scott Quartet. Keep reading for the full season schedule and further details from JAG:

The season kicks off on Saturday, November 14th with the Aaron Scott Quartet featuring vocal sensation Liz Woolley. Other series highlights include an all-star line up of Columbus Jazz Orchestra musicians performing “Songs of the Season” (December 5, 2015), blues guitar master Sean Carney & the Sean Carney Band (January 9, 2016), the fast-rising group Circle of Friends led by drummer Cedric Easton (February 20, 2016) and the New Orleans funk of the New Basics Brass Band.

PBJ & Jazz concerts are 1-hour long interactive concerts designed to introduce jazz and American music to young children and their families. Featuring some of Columbus’ finest musicians and ensembles, PBJ & Jazz concerts are hosted by former Columbus Music Hall owner and retired music educator Rebecca Ogden and are a great introduction to live music for the youngest audience member.

“It has been so much fun over the years to work with great musicians playing real live jazz for kids and their families. Every concert is a treat. I am delighted that PBJ & Jazz has a life after the Columbus Music Hall!”
– Rebecca Ogden
