A Night to Remember with Grammy Nominated Singer/Songwriter “Oleta Adams”

Saturday, November 20th 7:00 p.m in The Pythian Theater is sure to be an unforgettable evening and one not to be missed as The King Arts Complex, AEP, and US Bank presents Jazz on the Avenue™ Series Opener with Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Oleta Adams. A rare and wonderful opportunity awaits guests to hear this sultry R&B singer perform!

Adams, a crowd pleasing jazz/R&B vocalist for the past 20 years, embarked on her solo career and became an instant sensation after recording such hits as “Woman in Chains” with the English duo and Phil Collins. Since the runaway success of her debut album, Circle of One, and the impassioned hit single “Get Here” (which became the unofficial anthem of the Gulf War), Oleta Adams has inspired an ever-growing legion of fans in the U.S. and abroad. She takes them on journeys of the heart via songs that draw deeply from her roots in gospel while crossing effortlessly into soul, R&B, urban, jazz, and popular music. Her successes include critical acclaim, artist adoration, multiple Grammy and Dove nominations, and the release of eight albums with over 2 ½ million copies sold.

Oleta earned her devoted fan base by staying with the essentials: honest, soulful vocals, unforgettable songs, and uplifting arrangements. Her new CD Let’s Stay Here (Koch Records/2009) is prime Oleta: she delivers each song’s message with grace, clarity, and quiet power, whether it’s her own composition or a classic cover, such as the version of Nina Simone’s “Feelin’ Good” that was central to the 2007-8 Buick campaign. Let’s Stay Here is a new statement of pure soul, ten messages of hope and love for our tough times.
