Annual Ray Charles Tribute Show with Roger Hines & Friends

This weekend marks the annual Ray Charles Tribute weekend at Dick’s Den both Friday and Saturday nights. Join the band for a celebration of the music of Ray Charles as presented by longtime friend and band member, bassist Roger Hines. Many other local musicians influenced by Ray Charles will be joining the celebration, recalling the soul, spirit, and genius of Ray Charles in story, dance and song.

Featured guests will include Roger Baccus, Vernon Hairston, Joe Hunter, Randy Mather, James “Smooth” Elliot, and Stan Smith among others. Also featured will be “Raelettes”, Tia Roseboro, Vicki Saunders, and Debra Tucker. The celebration will happen at Dick’s Den, 2417 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43202, Friday and Saturday December 2, and 3, 2011. There will be two shows each night, 10 p.m. and 12 midnight.

Roger Hines
Roger Hines, the bassist, has logged many miles on the road during his thirty-year career as a musician. Hines toured as musical director for Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist Diane Schuur from 1988 to the present. From 1980 -1987 Roger toured non-stop as bassist for the legendary singer Ray Charles. He has also performed with many other well-known artists and ensembles including, Louie Bellson, the Count Basie Orchestra, Rosemary Clooney, Eddie Daniels, Billy Eckstine, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Frank Foster, Sir Roland Hanna, Hank Marr, and Zoot Sims.
