Benefit for Matt Wagner at Dick’s Den February 28

As we reported last month, esteemed Columbus drummer Matt Wagner has had serious health issues over the past several years that have left him unable to work and placed him and his wife Trish in dire financial straits. In order to help him out in his time of need, the Columbus music community has come together to throw a benefit for Wagner and his family. On Thursday, February 28th at 8pm, Dick’s Den will host a concert presenting a wide swath of the area’s finest jazz musicians. The bands will be led by four more of Columbus’ finest drummers – Jim Rupp, Louis Tsamous, Wally Mitchel and Aaron Scott – and will feature musicians including Andy Woodson, Richard Lopez, Doug Richeson, Randy Mather, Jim Powell, Michael Cox, Roger Hines, Vaughn Wiester, Erik Augis, Jim Maneri, Brett Burleson, Danny Bauer, Tom Carroll, Matt Paetsch, Matt Adams, Dave Nilo, and likely more. Donations will be accepted at the door – All proceeds will support Matt and Trish. There is also a GoFundMe page setup – click here to make a donation. Come out next week for a great night of Columbus jazz for a great cause! Check out classic footage from Andy Woodson of Wagner in concert with the Mark Flugge Quartet below:
