Columbus keyboard titan Bobby Floyd’s weekly Sunday Showcase at Notes is launching an exciting new series this weekend. The inaugural concert of the Spotlight Series will feature acclaimed vibraphonist Dick Sisto with the Bobby Floyd Trio on Sunday, March 18th at 6pm at Notes. Tickets are available here. Sisto has an extensive resume as a performer, educator and radio host, and has collaborated with a wealth of jazz legends (learn more here). For this week’s show, Sisto will perform two sets with Floyd, bassist Derek DiCenzo and drummer Reggie Jackson – the jam session that usually ends the Showcase will return on the 25th. The Spotlight Series is Floyd’s new initiative to “bring to Columbus a variety of brilliant musicians he has worked with ‘on the road’ and wants to bring home to us.” Series concerts will be held every 4 to 6 weeks, so stay tuned for future installments after watching these four master musicians collaborate on Sunday! Bobby Floyd is a nationally known jazz pianist and B3 organist who lives in Columbus. His career has taken him around the world, playing concerts, clubs, and festivals with many of the great jazz masters of our time. He has established strong relationships of mutual respect with many artists and, in doing so, those artists have expressed a desire to work with him again and are eager to come to Columbus to do so.
“I am pleased that Copious Notes is committed to helping me bring these artists here so that Columbus can also experience a taste of what I do when I travel,” says Bobby.
All of the Showcases are great entertainment, but when you see “Spotlight Series” with a Showcase announcement, know that you are in for a special evening.
