This “Fat” Tuesday is Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but local bands, the New Basics Brass Band and fo/mo/deep will be bringing the celebration to Columbus with a marathon of performances starting at 3pm Tuesday afternoon. The New Orleans brass band inspired, New Basics Brass Band, start Fat Tuesday with a bang over at Gallo’s Kitchen from 3pm – 5pm with a performance from Rob, Matt, & Colin of the band. Local Funk/Groove/Jazz band fo/mo/deep also performs on Fat Tuesday at Zydeco on High from 7pm – 10pm

Gallo’s Kitchen is located at 5019 Olentangy River Road on the corner of Bethel Road and offers a menu mixing Italian and New Orleans style cooking and will be a perfect fit for the New Orleans inspired brass band. Following the 3-5pm performance, the band does a second set from 6-8pm again at Gallo’s Kitchen.

fo/mo/deep will be at Zydeco on High from 7pm to 10pm. fo/mo/deep, cooks up a tasty and interesting fusion of flavors including Jazz, Funk & World Grooves, and will be a perfect second course for the day’s activities.
Head out down to Dick’s Den later that night for another performance from the Brass band as they take the stage at 10pm and play until 2am in the morning. The NBBB originally formed back in 1995, the sousaphone-driven New Basics Brass Band layers jazz, R&B, New Orleans funk, and groove sounds to produce party music for the masses. This should be a great Mardi Gras marathon of groove, funk and fun with the New Basics Brass Band this Tuesday.
