Columbus Jazz Orchestra Features Music of the 70’s with Spinning Wheel

Columbus, OH – The Jazz Arts Group’s 2009-2010 Great American Songbook series continues at the Southern Theatre on January 22-23 with Spinning Wheel, a tribute to the music of Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago, and the ‘70s featuring Lew Soloff, “Blue” Lou Marini and vocalist Bruce Wermuth.

An original member of Blood, Sweat & Tears, trumpet virtuoso Lew Soloff was an integral part of the band from 1968 to 1973, racking up nine gold records worldwide, a Grammy for “Record of the Year” (1969) and creating those searing horn lines in “Spinning Wheel.” Legendary saxophonist “Blue” Lou Marini was an original member of the Saturday Night Live Band and the Blues Brothers Band, and has played with some of the industry’s most prominent bands such as Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Dr. John, The Band and Blood, Sweat & Tears.
