The 42nd annual Community Festival (Comfest) season is upon us. With 3 days and nights of live music from jazz to blues, funk and soul and everything in between; there is plenty of live music to suit anyone’s taste. For the jazz fans out there, we’re lucky enough to have an entire stage dedicated to the musical art form. The “I Wish You Jazz” stage provides an entire weekend of local jazz performances spanning the spectrum of the genre.

This year, the 1st “Comfest Second Line” will commence on Sunday, June 29th. To help spread the word, we are including information from the New Basics Brass Band members:

Calling all horn players, drummers, dancers, and get-down-good-time people. We are coming together during ComFest to play and celebrate with a second line on Sunday, June 29. We will play a selection of traditional New Orleans parade songs (When the Saints Go Marching In, Joe Avery Blues, Do Whatcha Wanna, etc.) The tunes a pretty basic, so you can pick them up easily or check them on YouTube. The route will be fairly short and take up to the middle of the park. Count on the entire stroll last about 30 minutes. We will meet at the Off Ramp Stage at 2 pm and kick off & get moving at 2:30.
