This Thursday, April 22nd, the Wexner Center for the Arts presents an evening with tenor saxophonist, Donny McCaslin. The performance will take place at the Wexner Performance Space.
Winner of Downbeat’s 2008 Rising Star Poll, tenor saxophonist Donny McCaslin made a strong impression when he appeared here as part of the Dave Douglas Quintet, wowing the crowd with emotionally powerful and tasteful solos that displayed deep musical instincts and ample technical skills. McCaslin returns with this quartet featuring guitarist Ben Monder, Hans Glawischnig on bass, and Antonio Sanchez on drums—the perfect vehicle for McCaslin’s free-flowing arrangements and distinct compositional voice. Check out McCaslin’s CD Recommended Tools for a sample of the kind of music you’ll hear up close in this cabaret-style jazz show.
“McCaslin offers Olympian solos that combine muscular performance and artistic grace.”—Jazziz
