As discussed in our interview, the horn-playing nucleus of the Dan White Sextet moved to Brooklyn in February. Since then, they have been gigging around the NYC area, both in adjusted lineups of the DW6 and as the Rumpus Horns, a horn section for all situations. To make sure their friends in Ohio remember them, however, starting this week DW6 is hitting the road in their state of origin this summer. After playing Cleveland Sunday, they will hit Natalie’s on Tuesday, June 3rd, with an opening set from Theo Perry and JT Hillier. After a show Wednesday at The Greenwich in Cincinnati, they will return to Dicks Den on Friday, June 6th, for an old school throwdown. If you can’t see them this week, you will have more chances: DW6 plays the Comfest I Wish You Jazz Stage at 8:50pm on Saturday, June 28th, as well as a post-Comfest party at Brothers Drake on Sunday, June 29th. They will then return once more for Jazz & Ribs Fest on Sunday, July 20th. Though the guys are missed here, it’s great that they’re coming back to visit.
