The Columbus jazz community suffered a tragic loss on Thursday, December 15th, with the passing of Dwight Lenox after a recent illness. Over his 40+ year career, Lenox was renowned as a vocalist and bandleader in the Columbus area and the region, whether playing with a trio, small group, or his Lenox Avenue Express big band. He released five albums, and was featured with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra numerous times. Lenox graciously participated in the JazzColumbus.com Interview Series in March 2015. In light of the passing of Lenox and Ed Clay, keyboardist for The Patrol/The Jazz Patrol and an Emmy-award winning broadcaster, Jazz 98.5 FM, WSAX-LP is presenting a special tribute to these two local legends. On Sunday, December 18th, from 11am to 4pm, the radio station will play only the music of these greats. Tune in Sunday afternoon, or visit the Jazz 98.5 website to listen online, and honor their memory by enjoying some wonderful music.
