A brand new Columbus-based quartet focused on the sounds of Brazilian jazz makes its live debut this week. Fa 2, named for the pronunciation of the bandleader’s last name, will play at Dick’s Den on Thursday, April 21st, from 10pm to 1am. Cover is $4. Led by drummer Antoine Fatout, the band also includes Maggie Green (vocals), Stan Smith (guitar), and Roger Hines (bass). A native of France, Fatout fell in love with the music of Brazil while attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. After recently moving to Columbus, Fatout recruited some of the finest Brazilian and jazz musicians in the area to play tunes combining “the infectious rhythms of Brazilian samba and bossa nova [and] the swinging sounds of jazz.” The music should fit well with a warm spring night. As Fatout told me, “this event will set you right for the summer in the wonderful capital of Ohio! Come and enjoy the sounds of Brazil!” Keep reading for a couple videos of the group in action:
