Free Columbus Jazz Orchestra Performance This Saturday at Columbus Commons

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy an evening under the stars filled with jazz music and sounds from the nationally-renowned Columbus Jazz Orchestra, led by trumpet virtuoso Byron Stripling. The Jazz Orchestra performs on the new Columbus Commons grounds in beautiful downtown Columbus. Gates open at 7 p.m., and the free concert begins at 8 p.m.

The Columbus Commons is 9 acres of live, green space located in the heart of Downtown. You’ll find the state-of-the-art Columbus Bicentennial Pavilion, hand-carved carousel, outdoor reading room, world-class gardens, outdoor cafes, bocce courts, a life-size chess set and more. The park now stands at the former site of the City Center. Columbus Commons was born when Capitol South began the process of surgically dismantling the mall space in October 2009. By mid 2010, construction on the park began, with one-third of the site reserved for market-driven development. The Columbus Commons was substantially complete by the end of 2010, and hosted 300,000 visitors at 130 events in its opening 2011 season. For 2012, there are 230 events planned, with over 70 events being held at the new Columbus Bicentennial Pavilion.
