French American Peace Ensemble in Columbus

The French American Peace Ensemble tour will roll into Columbus on Tuesday, June 18, at 7:30 p.m., following their debut in Montreal and New York City.  The concert will be at Shadowbox Live, located in Columbus’ Brewery District at 503 S. Front St. The French American Peace Ensemble is an all-star collaborative of master improvisers from Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and France. Each member brings over 40 years of engaging in the art of improvisation. They will be spontaneously creating musical compositions as well as working through newly written compositions by members of the group. Folk, blues, jazz, and world music elements will be incorporated to create music that is new exciting, trance-like, melodic and rhythmic in its scope.

The members of the French American Peace Ensemble are François Tusques (piano) and Louis Sclavis (reeds) from France and William Parker (bass), Hamid Drake (drums), and Kidd Jordan (saxophone) from the U.S. Kidd Jordan appeared in Columbus at last year’s Hot Times Tribute to Kate Schulte. Columbus poet and member of The Jazz Poetry Ensemble™, Michael Vander Does, will also perform with the French American peace Ensemble.

Ticket-holders for this concert will be afforded the opportunity to buy advance sale tickets to the August concert featuring the David Murray Infinity Quartet with Macy Gray.
