Get Ready for the Hot Times Arts & Music Festival 2011

The Hot Times Community & Arts Festival 2011 is being held this weekend in Columbus at 240 Parsons Ave on the intersection of Main and Parsons Avenue. Each year this event seems to grow in popularity and this year should be no different. With quality music, art, kid friendly events, street fair environment, and of course the always popular “art cars“, this year should prove as exciting as ever. This year features a number of local jazz talent throughout the weekend in addition to the artists, poetry, street fair, kids activities and more.

This year’s headlining artist will be blues performer Grady Champion. Grady Champion is a native of Canton, Mississippi. He started performing at the age of 8 in the Church Choir where his love for music began. Through the years he has developed into not only a great singer and harmonica player, but also an innovative songwriter and producer. In 1994, Grady Champion won the McDonald’s MusicFest with his performance of Damn Right, I’ve Got the Blues and brought the audience of 10,000 to their feet. He has had the pleasure of performing with Blues Greats Luther Allison, Lucky Peterson, and Junior Wells as well as “Clean-Up Woman” Betty Wright.
