Jazz Academy with the Columbus Jazz Arts Group

The Columbus Jazz Arts Group (JAG) is America’s oldest not-for-profit arts organization dedicated to producing, performing and promoting jazz.  The Jazz Arts Group (JAG) divides its resources among two areas: performance and education. Part of the education is the Jazz Academy as part of the Jazz in the Community program series.

The Jazz Academy’s Jazz in the Community programs offer exciting opportunities in jazz and American music.  Courses at the Jazz Academy are designed to engage all ages and interests, from pre-school children to senior citizens, guitar players to aspiring producers, and students to teachers.  The Jazz Academy connects people, start conversations and inspires music making – a place where anyone can listen, learn and play.

Jazz Arts Group opened the Jazz Academy community instructional space in the newly restored and historic Lincoln Theatre complex for multi-generational and recreational music making, ensemble playing, after-school programs, technology instruction and lectures with world-class musicians. The Jazz Academy is also home to the PBJ & Jazz family music series.

All of the Jazz Academy courses are posted online and there are a number of classes starting in February.  I highly recommend taking a look at the vast diversity of classes offered for any age group and any interest level. There is certainly something here for everyone.  Here is the schedule of classes:
