Jazz fans, you have the ability to help one of Columbus’ premier Arts organizations. The Jazz Arts Group seeks volunteers for the upcoming “One Night Only” performance on Friday, Nov. 2, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The success of this event is dependent on a strong corps of volunteers, and we hope that you wish to be a part of that group!

Below is a list of volunteer positions that currently need filled. Please let me know which are most interesting to you, noting that all of these opportunities require standing and/or walking. You are welcome to sign up for more than one position or shift if you wish, and we encourage bringing friends — all volunteers receive free admission to events worked. A mandatory volunteer orientation will be held the week of the event (Monday, October 29 at 5:30 PM), so please plan on attending.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly at svezdos@jazzartsgroup.org or by calling 614-294-5200 x 110.

COAT CHECK: Offer to take patrons’ coats, bags, umbrellas, etc. and hang them in a secured location. Give each patron a number corresponding to the number on the hanger. Three volunteers needed for each of three shifts (5:30-7:30 p.m.; 7:30-9:30 p.m.; 9:30-11:30 p.m.)

OUTDOOR USHERS: For those who do not choose to utilize valet service, offer to escort patrons to and from their vehicles, which may be parked in lots next door, across the street, or on surface streets surrounding the facility. Four volunteers needed for each of three shifts (5:30-7:30 p.m.; 7:30-9:30 p.m.; 9:30-11:30 p.m.)

TRAFFIC DIRECTORS: Guide patrons to various locations throughout the Lincoln Theatre complex. Seven volunteers needed for each of two shifts (5:30-8:00 p.m.; 9:30-11:00 p.m.)

AUCTION SPOTTERS: During the live auction and fund-a-need portions of the main concert, we rely on additional people to help spot others bidding on live auction items and also help record amounts “pledged” during the live fund-a-need portion. Four to six people are needed during this time (8:00- 9:30 p.m.).

CLEAN-UP CREW: At conclusion of event, assist in breakdown of all areas, including food and beverage stations, removal of trash, etc. Ten volunteers needed from approximately 10:30 p.m. until completed.
