Larry Schaefer and the Swing Machine band
A seventeen piece big band has been led by Larry Schaefer since late 1966. Instrumentals are primarily the actual charts played by Count Basie, Bunny Berigan, Les Brown, Tommy Dorsey, and Glen Miller. Avon Campredon, Quinn Radziszewski, Roed Sewer, and John Householder sing modern arrangements of standards. The repertoire includes a few latins, waltzes, and polkas. SWING MACHINE performs at the Talla Community Hall at the Dublin Recreation Center, 5600 Post Road, from 7:30 – 10 p.m. the first Friday of most months. During August and September the dance dates are moved back to the second Friday because of the Dublin Irish Festival and Labor Day. The gate is $5.00. Light refreshments are furnished by the Dublin Community Seniors.
