It seems like almost every week we have some very special guests performing at each of the jazz jams in town. The Tuesday night jazz jam at Park Street Tavern this week has jazz guitarist Tim Cummiskey. The show starts at 8:30 and jazz musicians are encouraged to attend and sit in.
Tim currently leads several groups ranging from solo jazz and classical guitar to group configurations including duos, The Tim Cummiskey Trio, and The Tim Cummiskey Quartet. As a sideman, Tim has performed and/or conducted clinics with John Abercrombie, Howard Alden, Carl Allen, Gene Bertoncini, Chris Buzzelli, Benny Golson, Tim Hagans, Ingrid Jensen, Hank Marr and Frank Vignola. Tim also regularly works with veteran Ohio musicians including Hank Marr, Vince Andrews, Chris Berg, Paul Brown, Tom Carroll, Jimmy Cook, Bobby Floyd, Don Hales, Jeff Halsey, Ola Hansen, Jim Masters, Tony Monaco, Gene Parker, Kim Pensyl, Dave Powers, Guy Remonko, Russ Schmidt, Stan Smith, Gene Walker and others. In addition, Tim has conducted clinics at the annual convention of The International Association of Jazz Educators, Bowling Green State University, The Ohio State University, Capital University, Denison University and Kenyon College.
Ruby Tuesday Jam
Over at Ruby Tuesday tonight, trombonist Evan Oberla hosts a jazz jam featuring: Bryan Olsheski (sax), Chris Grays (Keys), Roger Hines (Bass) & Chris Guthrie (Drums). The jam starts about 9:30 and goes late so musicians can actually attend both the Park Street and the Ruby Tuesday jam this evening and every week.
