Before a swingin’ Outdoor Jazz lineup and more great shows for your week, there is news of another milestone for Columbus’ longest-running jam session. On Tuesday, July 30th, from 8:30 to 11:30pm, the Jazz Jam at Park Street Tavern with the Pete Mills Quartet celebrates the start of its 16th year! The anniversary is bittersweet, as the occasion is also a Going Away Party for bassist John Philip Allen, who will be moving to Nashville in the next week. So grab your horn and come down for a gathering of Columbus’ finest musicians, plus food, drinks and fun!

The keys and vocals team of Mark & Rene Goodwin will be serving up live up Live Jazz and Soul on the Patio at Annie’s Wine Cottage in Powell on upcoming Thursdays, 7:30 – 9:30pm. On July 25th they will be joined by drummer Ted Royalty, and guitarist Brett Burleson joins the fun on August 1st. On Friday, July 26th, the 2019 JazZoo season at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium resumes with Dave Powers & Friends with Columbus Jazz Orchestra at 8pm, preceded by Winchester Steel Company (Steel Drummers) at 6:45pm – series details here. Saturday, July 27th offers chances to see strong Ohio talent around town: hot trad jazz from RedHotBux at the Grandview Hop in the Spencer Research Lot (1290 Grandview Ave) at 5pm, Mansfield’s classic vocal jazz powerhouse Just Jazz Live Duo at Cimi’s Bistro at Pinnacle (Grove City) at 6pm, and the 2019 Jazz in the Park series at Maloney Park (Linden) wraps up with the sultry sounds of Liberated Soul Project at 6pm. And on Sunday, July 28th at 4:30pm, enjoy fiery Cuban jazz fusion and tasty food trucks when Bexley Jazz in the Park presents Waves De Aché at Havenwood Park – series details here. Get out and enjoy!

Monday, July 29th⋅(7 – 9:30pm): An Evening With Poppy & Piper at Lineage Brewing, Clintonville. The Poppy & Piper Tap Duo are hosting their first full-length show, joining the long tradition of tap duos. The duo will be accompanied by a high-powered jazz band, including music director Tom Davis on bass; Jacob Campbell on keys; Brian Moore on drums; Alex Burgoyne on sax; Ben Crowder on Trombone; and special guests Rachel Azbell and Liz Woolley on vocals.
