Producer and keyboardist Brandon ‘B-jazz’ Scott, deejay J Rawls, and drummer extraordinaire Rob Riley introduce a new music series and performance entitled: Juke Joint Fridays hosted by B Jazz. The collective (sometimes known as the Liquid Crystal Project) invites participants to experience the “Jazzhop” movement in a professional yet relaxing environment. The band will be providing the JukeBox Experience, including live music, dance, great people, and a selective host of beverages for a night of pure fun, rhythm, groove, spunk an soulful cheer. The first experience will take place on February 17th from 8pm to 1am and then continue every 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month.
Not familiar with the Jazzhop movement? Here’s a little background:
Jazz Hop because it blends the old school be bop of jazz legends like John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and George Duke with hard hitting drums of Hip Hop influences like J Dilla, A Tribe Called Quest, DJ Premier and Pete Rock. A performance includes everything from Giant Steps by John Coltrane to Gettin Up by Q-Tip. That is why fans from Europe to Columbus love the uniqueness and versatility each musician brings to the table.
B Jazz and the crew have hosted many shows including tributes to John Coltrane & Miles Davis (featuring trumpeter Pharez Whitted and emcee John Robinson), Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Guru and Motown’s 50th Anniversary. Collectively and individually they have played alongside Roy Hardgrove, K’Naan, Eric Roberson, Ghostface Killah, Rick Ross, Dwele, Raheem Devaughn and Isaac Hayes.
Band members J Rawls (producer/deejay), Brandon “B Jazz” Scott (keyboards/producer), Rob Riley (drummer) and saxophone players Eddie Bayard and Charles Cooper, rotate special guests including DJ Krate Digga, singers Talisha Holmes, Renee Dion and Tia Stewart, emcee Speak Williams and guitarist Brandon Chapman for a distinct sound every time they play.
A new sound with retro soul,
A place where you can be yourself so you can just let go,
Bring your best, don’t follow the rest,
A different atmosphere,
Try something fresh 4 the new year,
Don’t come sloppy, bring your “A” Game,
Heels and collared shirts, you wont be the same…
