Jazz Arts Group’s multi-faceted 2015-16 Inside Track series continues next weekend with a top-flight modern jazz trio. The Jeff Hamilton Trio will play two shows at Notes, 520 S. High St., on Saturday, March 5th at 7:30pm and 9:30pm (tickets available here). The trio will also take part in a free “Offstage at the Jazz Academy” Workshop on Saturday at 2pm in the Academy’s offices on the 4th floor of the Lincoln Theatre complex. Hamilton, a regular visitor to Columbus venues over the years, is perhaps best known for his tasteful drumming behind legends like Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall and Barbra Streisand, but is also renowned for his talent behind the kit as well as his original compositions and arrangements. Hamilton is joined in his trio by award-winning pianist Tamir Hendelman and acclaimed bassist Christoph Luty. The group shows no signs of slowing down, with two well-selling releases in 2015 – Scott Hamilton & Jeff Hamilton Trio – Live In Bern and Cory Weeds & The Jeff Hamilton Trio – This Happy Madness. Don’t miss the chance to see these greats in an intimate environment – keep reading for videos of both Hamilton and the trio in action, including a previous stop at the Jazz Academy:
