Jon Lampley's "Fight the Team" Album Preview

Jon Lampley, a fifth-year jazz studies student at The Ohio State University, will release his album “Fight the Team” on Sept. 22, 2012. The album will consist of seven classic Ohio State songs arranged by Lampley and former classmate Dan White. While jazz is the primary influence of each song, hip-hop, dubstep and dixieland genres can be noted as well. “Fight the Team” will be available on iTunes, in Ohio State gift shops and Columbus, Ohio, bookstores.

“Fight the Team” Album instrumentation:

Jon Lampley – Arranger/Producer/Trumpet/Sousaphone/Vocals
Dan White – Arranger/Saxophones/Clarinet/Vocals
Chris Ott – Trombone/Vocal Percussion (Beat Boxing)

“I wanted to express my passion for Ohio State through music,” Lampley said. “It’s not often that an opportunity like this comes along and fortunately, with the help of Ohio State’s Undergraduate Research Office, I’m able to create an album that appeals to Ohio State fans and music lovers in general.”

As a fourth-year sousaphone player for The Ohio State University Marching Band, Lampley earned the honor of dotting the “i” in the Ohio State script for three games including one NFL halftime performance in 2011. He has spent the last two years as a touring member of the platinum-selling rock band O.A.R. (Of A Revolution) whose original members attended Ohio State. Lampley can also be heard playing with the Dan White Sextet and the Evan Oberla Project.
