Bobby Payton

I started singing in Church around age 5. My Aunt Pastor Virginia Carr/Lucas had a “Great Church” on Seventh Ave. The Seventh Avenue Community Church of Christ in Columbus, Ohio. My Dad inspired me to play, and was a great harmonica player/soloist. My Mother was also a great singer, and would sometimes “sing me to sleep at night”. I started playing Guitar around age 10. The first song that God taught me was “Free at Last..Free at Last.. Thank God Almighty I’m Free at Last. I joined a Band around age 16..Hit the Road around age 17..Got into Jazz around age 26..Finally found my Gospel roots again in 1976..Still trying to play and sing. I just could not find complete satisfaction doing the Club Scene. I became a Christian in 1976. I still Love Jazz Improvisation and other Good Music Especially Gospel Music.
