Tucked in between her performances at Nighttown (Cleveland), The Jazz Kitchen (Inidanapolis), and The Blue Wisp (Cincinnati), vocalist, Annie Sellick comes to our bungalow for an intimate house concert. In addition to being one of the hottest young singers on the scene today – JazzTimes calls her “so uniquely gifted that preeminence seems a foregone conclusion” and groups her into the same “elite circle” as Madeleine Peyroux, Jackie Ryan, Roberta Gambarini, and Kat Edmondson. Annie performs with a trio of equally impactful players. Drummer Justin Varnes (Mose Allison, the Earl Klugh Trio), bassist Elisa Pruett (Kenny Barron, Wycliffe Gordon), and pianist Kevin Bales (Marcus Printup, Bunky Green) complement and augment her honest and soulful interpretations.
Annie has performed all over the country as well as throughout Europe, Japan, and Canada. She was the featured vocalist for Mark O’Connor’s Hot Swing Tour, has recorded albums with Joey DeFrancesco and the trios of Gerald Clayton and Jeff Hamilton, and was featured in a sold-out “A Night Of Jazz” performance with the Nashville Symphony. Her accolades go on and on and her charisma does not disappoint.
Annie Sellick grew up in Nashville, working with great Nashville jazz musicians. Her recording projects have included arrangements by Shelly Berg, and in L.A. she has collaborated with many jazz greats including Tamir Hendleman, the Gerald Clayton Trio, the Jeff Hamilton Trio.
Annie will be performing live in Columbus at Becky Ogden’s Jazz Bungalow on Sunday, November 10th at 5 p.m.
