A B3 group, Padula Oblongata, from Gambier Ohio is coming to Columbus for the first time playing this Thursday at 8PM at Espresso Yourself Music Cafe. The group describes themselves as “Organic Jazz” with a lineup of 5 players:

Michael Padula — Hammond B3 Organ
Ted Buehrer — Trumpet & flugelhorn
Evan Axelbaum — Alto sax & flute
Skip Trask — Drums
Ed Schiebel — Percussion

Michael Padula the leader of the band began playing the accordion at the age of eight and performed on the organ in a nightclub (chaperoned by his father) when he was 15 years old. In 1972, Michael got his first break after auditioning for the Platters and traveled with the group for several years. In the late 1980’s, Michael had the opportunity work with Jon Faddis and Ernie Watts while earning a BA degree in Biblical and Religious Studies at Abilene Christian University.
