PBJ & Jazz with the Dan White Sextet

PBJ & Jazz, the popular jazz series for children, returns this Saturday November 10th with the Dan White Sextet. The Dan White Sextet is a funk/jazz group that originated in Columbus, Ohio, and is known for its original music. The sextet strives to push the boundaries of composition and improvisation. Featuring a front line of multi-instrumentalists, the group has an array of sounds to bring to the table. Each member uses his unique instrumental voice to contribute collectively. From jazz, to second line, to funk, and even soul, every member puts their own stamp on each genre they play.

PBJ & Jazz concerts are 1-hour long interactive concerts designed to introduce jazz and American music to young children and their families. Featuring some of Columbus’ finest musicians and ensembles, PBJ & Jazz concerts are hosted by former Columbus Music Hall owner and retired music educator Rebecca Ogden – and are a great introduction to live music for the youngest audience member.

The Dan White Sextet is:

Dan White – saxophones, clarinet, and effects pedals
Jon Lampley – trumpet, vocals, and sousaphone
Chris Ott – trombone and beatbox
Adam DeAscentis – bass
John Hubbell/ John Suntken – drums
Chris Ziemba – keys / Joshua Hill – Guitar

PBJ & Jazz concerts are $5 per person at the door with a family maximum of $20. Children receive a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, juice and a cookie (provided by Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland).
