New York City’s Sammy Miller and the Congregation bring their joyful jazz back to Columbus this week to kickoff their “Loop De Loop” Tour. After a dinner engagement, the band will play a special show at Dick’s Den on Thursday, April 7th, starting around 10:45pm. Cover is $5. This 19-day tour across the Midwest and East Coast sees the band’s uplifting style and attitude continue to gain momentum, as it includes the opening slot on the Charlotte Jazz Festival, with special guest Wynton Marsalis, and a concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, DC. In light of these big venues ahead, Thursday’s intimate performance at our local jazz dive bar will be an up-close look at some serious talent. With a lineup that includes Rad Trads members Sam Crittenden (trombone) and Patrick Sargent (soprano sax) hot off of their Saturday night barn burner at Brothers Drake, the energy should be through the roof! Get your weekend started early with a great show. Keep reading for new video of the band’s passionate fervor:
