Here’s a great article done by Chris DeVille of the Columbus Alive on local jazz violinist and jazz virtuoso, Christian Howes. We are certainly blessed to have Christian as an integral part of the Columbus Jazz community. A big shout out to Chris DeVille for covering Christian and the jazz scene here in Columbus.
Howes, a classically trained jazz violinist and an associate professor at the Berklee College of Music, is hailed as one of the world’s most exciting talents on his instrument. He grew up in Columbus but spent the past eight years in Brooklyn, where he maintains an apartment and often stops in to play a string of gigs. Dude also frequently tours across Asia, Europe and North America.
As of late last year, he’s spending most of his time back in Columbus, where he teams with some of the city’s top jazz talent every Wednesday at Dick’s. When I saw him last week, he was joined by Hamilton Hardin on keyboards and Cedrick Easton on drums….
Hey Mark- thanks for the plug!
The regular Wednesday gig at Dick’s Den is going really well. We’re there EVERY Wednesday with an EARLY START at 9 p.m. until 1 a.m.
Cover is only $4.
I am still on the road quite a bit, but whenever I’m not at Dick’s on Wednesday someone steps in that I’ve invited. This next week it will be Cedric Easton leading the band as I’ll be performing in NYC and Boston.
Thanks for creating this site. It’s certainly a great resource for our community.
