For the 4th consecutive year, the Columbus-based Sly Stone Tribute Band will honor the March 15th birthday of Sly Stone with a pair of performances at Natalie’s. The band will perform its “It’s a Family Affair: A Tribute to the Music of Sly & the Family Stone” program on Friday, March 10th at 10pm (tickets available here) and Saturday, March 11th at 10pm (tickets available here). Stone, the leader of groundbreaking funk/R&B legends Sly & the Family Stone, “helped change the 1970’s music landscape with his psychedelic brew of funk and soul.” This local tribute to his legacy features some of the best jazz, funk and soul performers in the area: singers Tia Harris, Debra James Tucker, Monique Mitchell and Vicki Saunders, the Macknificent Jimmy McGee and the sounds of the Urban Jazz Coalition. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $20 for reserved seats – reserved seats include a slice of a special birthday cake to celebrate Sly’s birthday and a chance to get a picture with the Tribute Band immediately following the show. The best dressed and most spirited audience member each night will win a Natalie’s Gift Card, so put together your best 70’s ensemble and get ready to party!
