Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra welcomes special guest the outstanding pianist Bill Dobbins on Monday July 11th at the Clintonville Women’s Club. Bill originally hails from Akron and has taught at the Eastman School of Music beginning in 1973. After serving as principal director of the renown WDR Big Band in Cologne, Germany, Bill returned to Eastman where he serves as Professor of Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media.

***Update**** Bill Dobbins will also be performing this Sunday, July 10th at Bungalow Jazz with Chris Berg on bass and Jim Rupp on Drums.

Bill is the author of several books on jazz piano theory, Dobbins penned two outstanding arrangements for the Famous Jazz Orchestra, Bill Evans’ “Waltz For Debby” and “Turn Out the Stars”, which will no doubt be featured during the evening’s festivities. Bill will also be performing at Becky’s Bungalow Jazz venue on Sunday, July 10 beginning at 7:00.

Crowds have been excellent at the Clintonville Woman’s Club so it is recommended that fans arrive early on the 11th for the best seats.
