Still Motion Farewell Show at Dick's Den

This Wednesday August 31st, join us in sending off jazz guitarist, composer, and leader of Still Motion, Andrew Hartman, as he plays his last show in Columbus for quite a while (forever?). Andrew will be heading off to the UK and we will certainly miss his jazz stylings around town. Joining Andrew for the night is: Michael Cox – saxophones, Ryan Hamilton – trombone, Andy Woodson – bass, and Chris Guthrie – drums.

Still Motion is a modern jazz quintet that thrives on presenting a diverse repertoire within the bounds a unified group sound. Amongst a typical set, the listener can expect to hear original compositions flowing into the band’s arrangements of pop songs, as well as a few from their contemporaries in jazz. The band’s release “Andrew Hartman and Still Motion” has been garnering accolades from jazz luminaries, radio programs and jazz fans of all ages.

Additional review of Still Motion’s album:

“Andrew Hartman and Still Motion give us a well composed album that avoids the over extension common in jazz. Intricate interplay between the five instruments exists throughout the record, yet the album never feels dense resulting in a pleasant medium between complexity and simplicity. In sum, Still Motion is a loose and fresh release that leaves the listener seeking more from this new group.”

Andrew will certainly be missed as a part of the Columbus jazz community. From all of us here in the community, best of luck in the UK and we hope to see you back here soon Andrew!
