The Brewtet Jazz Jam Sessions at Zaftig Brewing Company near Worthington has been a welcome addition to the Columbus jazz scene since its debut in 2018. Powered by house band The Brewtet, led by Korey Black on baritone sax with Paul Baker on bass, Will Ash on drum set, and Julian Dittmer on piano, the jam takes place each Thursday from 7 to 9:30pm. Each week’s show consists of two sets, with the first set featuring the Brewtet with a special guest and the second set opening up for a jam session. To help inform jazz fans about the event and its guests, Black recently started the weekly Zaftig Jazz Podcast, featuring a discussion between Black and a guest of the jam plus a taste of the guest’s music. See below for podcast episodes to date, as well as upcoming jam session guests. The Brewtet Jazz Jam Sessions celebrates its 1-year anniversary on Thursday, July 18th with a special performance featuring esteemed trombonist Matt Ellis. Check out the podcast to learn more and stop by Zaftig on an upcoming Thursday for great Columbus jazz and great Columbus beer (and more)!
