Saxophonist Dan White has shared the stage with many notable musicians in the past several years including: Roy Hargrove, Sean Jones, Carl Allen, Kurt Rosenwinkle, John Fedchock, Anthony Wonsey, David ‘Fathead’ Newman, Bobby Sanabria, Kenyatta Beasley, Shawn ‘Thunder’ Wallace, Bruce Johnstone, Robin Eubanks, Bob Lark, Bob Sneider, David Bixler, Scott Belk and many others. This Wednesday, the Columbus resident brings his Septet to perform live at Dick’s Den.
The show will be a blend of many different styles of music all focusing on improvisation and compositional development. The band will be playing standards from the jazz tradition in our their own unique way. Expect to hear new original music from Dan White’s book as well as covers including Nick Drake, Nirvana, Radiohead, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and other musicians. The music ranges from very free improvised pieces to extremely intricate and structured compositions.
Dan’s most recent release “Between the Lines” can be purchased on his website: http://www.danwhitejazz.com/music.html, and I’m sure Dan will have many copies at the show Wednesday night.
