The McCoy Center Announces 2013-14 Season including Herbie Hancock

Subscriptions are on sale now for the 2013-14 Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts in New Albany. The Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, established in 2007 by a unique joint operating agreement between the New Albany Community Foundation, the City of New Albany, Plain Township, and the New Albany Plain Local School District. Since opening in 2008, the McCoy Center has drawn more than 100,000 people, fulfilling its mission of fostering an appreciation of arts and culture by providing life-long learning opportunities through education, exposure, and participation. Recognized as a legendary pianist and composer for compositions such as “Cantaloupe Island,” “Maiden Voyage,” “Watermelon Man,” “Chameleon,” and “Rockit,” Herbie Hancock has received an Academy Award for his Round Midnight film score and 14 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for River: The Joni Letters (2007) and two Grammy Awards for his globally collaborative The Imagine Project (2010).

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee pioneer of the Chicago blues sound, guitarist and singer Buddy Guy has received five Grammy Awards, 23 W.C. Rolling Stone ranked him in the top 30 of its “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”

His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music, and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four #1 jazz albums, as well as multiple Gold, Platinum, and Grammy Awards. With uncanny note-for-note, live renditions of Beatles’ songs and precise attention to detail, the Fab Four will make you think you’re watching the real thing. This incredible stage show and loving tribute to the Beatles includes three costume changes representing every era of the super group’s career and record-perfect live performances of such classics as “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Yesterday,” “A Day In The Life,” “Twist And Shout,” “Here Comes The Sun,” and “Hey Jude.”
