The Ogún Meji Duo is starting a monthly residency series at Short North art space Art of Republic next week under the auspices of Scott Woods’ Streetlight Guild. As the Guild noted, “The Ogún Meji Duo +1 events are musical performances accompanied by a visual artist creating work on site in collaboration. Musical duties are handled by the always-powerful and progressive Ogún Meji Duo (Dr. Mark Lomax, II on drums and Eddie Bayard on sax), while the visual artists rotate for each set.” The series kicks off on Thursday, February 22nd at 7:30pm with a performance featuring artist Bryan Christopher Moss, who was recently featured in The Dispatch. Admission is $10. Click here for more details on the series and upcoming collaborations. The Ogún Meji Duo recently released an album entitled For Those Who Have Gone, But Still Remain, consisting of four compositions that “pay homage to artistic Ancestors.” Click here to sample and purchase this exciting new work.
