The Taste of Powell Featuring Live Jazz from Derek DiCenzo & Morgan Treni

The Powell Chamber of Commerce today announced they will be hosting The Fourth Annual Taste of Powell event on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Columbus Zoo, Water’s Edge Events Park. Tickets cost $25 per person, and can be ordered online at www.tasteofpowell.com, or by calling the Powell Chamber of Commerce at 614-888-1090. Tickets can also be purchased at Easy Street Café (Powell), Culver’s, Local Roots, Gooseneck Tavern, Champps Americana (Worthington) or Flyer’s Pizza restaurants in Powell. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

“Visitors will once again enjoy fantastic cuisine from Powell’s top restaurateurs and experience the cool jazz sounds of the Derek DiCenzo Trio, in addition to the sound of pianist Morgan Treni”, said Nancy Buckley, Executive Director of the Powell Chamber of Commerce. Buckley added, “Featured restaurants will include: Gooseneck Tavern, Local Roots, Powell Village Winery, Easy Street Café, Handel’s Ice Cream, Sweet Dreemz Bakery, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, The Old Bag of Nails Pub, Buffalo Wild Wings, Fiesta Jalisco, The Village Bakery, Sam’s Club, Flyers Pizza, Cakes of Distinction by Bachman’s, Champps Americana , Culver’s, Azteca Grill, City BBQ of Powell, Luce Enoteca, Liberty Tavern, Vittoria Restorante e Bar and Lazy Chameleon.

Derek DiCenzo is a multi-instrumentalist who is as comfortable playing jazz on the acoustic bass as on the guitar or even the steel drum. He has been a full-time musician based in Columbus, Ohio for many years. His diverse influences and uncanny musical intuition has made him a much sought-after player in a variety of formats.

In just a few months time, Morgan Treni has performed with some of the top names in the Columbus jazz scene including: Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra, Jim Maneri and now Derek DiCenzo. Morgan can be found singing a Capella jazz standards and originals from behind her piano at Roops Brothers in Delaware.
