The McConnell Arts Center once again plays host to some excellent local jazz music this Thursday with an evening of Latin and Brazilian song with Rachel Sepulveda.
Musician and vocalist, Rachel Sepulveda has a power and a passion to her singing that draws listeners in… not to just hear the music, but to experience it with her. This is Rachel’s second time headlining at the MAC. This time she will warm up Columbus’s winter blues with the spice and style from south of the border including Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha, Samba, and Bossa. In this performance, Ms. Sepulveda celebrates her Puerto Rican heritage and her love for Brazilian music singing in both Spanish and Portuguese.
Rachel is a graduate of Capital University’s Jazz Studies program. While there she studied with the masterful jazz pianist, Mark Flugge and traveled through Europe singing at the Montreux and Umbria Jazz Festivals in Switzerland and Italy. Rachel is often featured with Vaughn Wiester’s “Famous Jazz Orchestra.” She was a featured talent at the Columbus Jazz and Ribs Festival, 2009 and the Creekside Jazz and Blues Festival, 2011. Ms. Sepulveda was recently honored as a featured soloist at the University of North Texas Summer Vocal Jazz Workshop lead by Paris Rutherford.
