Hammond B-3 organist Tony Monaco has just released his newest album Furry Slippers, his ninth album and his first recording in over two years. Furry Slippers was recorded with the help of guitarist Fareed Haque and pianist Asako Itoh, with Greg Fundis on drums. In celebration of its release, Monaco and Haque are currently in the middle of a three-weekend tour. After playing Detroit and Cleveland last week, Monaco and Haque will play with Fundis at Chicago’s Green Mill November 21-22 before playing the Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis with drummer Kenwood Dennard November 28-29. The new album can be purchased on Tony’s website.
In addition to a new album, Monaco has also just released a downloadable instructional video with local guitarist Tim Cummiskey. The video features five performances with various camera angles and explanations from each artist on his technique. It also includes chord charts for both instruments and practice songs.
