Upcoming Holiday Jazz Concerts in Columbus

It’s that time of year again, we’re getting close to all our favorite holidays and the local jazz scene is responding with a number of various Holiday & Christmas concert celebrations over the next few weeks. Here are some of the more notable concerts (as of now) as there may be more added in the coming weeks:

Bobby Floyd Holiday Concert
Bungalow Jazz – Friday, 12/16, 7pm
Rumba Cafe – 12/22 – 8pm

Join the Bobby Floyd Trio with Derek DiCenzo and Reggie Jackson at Becky Ogden’s Jazz Bungalow for a Holiday concert tradition. Suggested donation: $20. Bobby and his trio will also be performing at the Rumba Cafe on 12/22 for another Holiday show. The passion with which Bobby Floyd plays piano, organ and keyboards are the result of his natural ability discovered at the age of two, his love of music, and years of practice. Whether performing jazz or gospel, as a soloist, with a trio or big band, his feel is unique and inspirational leading him to many distinguished appearances around the world.

Holiday Jazz Brunch w/ Dave DeWitt Trio
Bungalow Jazz – Sunday, 12/18, Noon

Becky hosts another exciting jazz trio for a Jazz Brunch in the comforts of her Jazz Bungalow with Dave DeWitt, Derek DiCenzo, and Aaron Scott. We understand that Dave DeWitt’s piano skills give a real twist to “holiday” music so it should be a treat for jazz fans. Dave is one of the most “in demand” musicians in the Columbus music scene. As a bassist, he can be found as a member of a number of local groups, and is a gifted pianist in his own right. He brings great musical depth to each performance. Suggested donation: $15

Tony Monaco Holiday Show
Park Street Tavern – Saturday, 12/17, 9pm

Join one of Columbus’ most notable jazz masters for an annual Holiday and Christmas show at Park Street Tavern. Tony brings his Jazz organ B-3 skills to the table with his trio (Derek DiCenzo, Reggie Jackson) and perhaps some special guests this time around. This will be a groovin’ evening of Christmas jazz favorites and other jazz wizardry.
