Keyboardist Marco Benevento has been a prolific artist in the jazz/rock/jam scenes for the last decade. He has released four studio albums under his own name, four as half of the Benevento/Russo Duo, and two more with Garage A Trois after joining that band in 2005. Further, he has played countless transcendent live shows with these bands and other projects, and I can tell you from personal experience that he puts on quite a show. His latest album, 2012’s Tigerface, sees Benevento’s sound moving further away from traditional jazz into experimental blends with rock and pop styles, including his first two songs with a lead vocalist (Kalmia Travers of Rubblebucket).
On Wednesday, April 3rd, WCBE 90.5 FM and Dark Star Jubilee present Marco Benevento at Woodlands Tavern. Doors are at 8pm and the opening act is Yosemight. Presale tickets are available here for a limited time. Two tickets to the Dark Star Jubilee will be given away at the show.
Here are some videos to give you a small introduction to Benevento’s work, including a brand new video for “This Is How It Goes” and some live footage of my favorite song by the Duo:
