This March, we’re creating a new tradition in Central Ohio.  March will become Homegrown Musician Appreciation Month. Fittingly, on Saturday, March 2nd, we kick off the month with the Homegrown talent of two special Central Ohio based groups.  In line with our effort to continue to feature and improve the awareness and appreciation of our Homegrown musicians, as well as the various jazz styles, we present the Jazz Fusion style of the celebrated group, fo/mo/deep, and the equally celebrated Smooth and Urban Contemporary jazz style of Copacetic.

Best known for their sizzling live performances, the fo/mo/deep groove is rooted in the experimental school of the 70s … a time when jazz, soul and funk were one and the same.  Seeking to defy the ordinary, this diverse collective of seasoned pros keeps things stirred up with unpredictable energy that moves.  With lyrics like “expand your mind and your heart will follow,” the music of Eclecticism harkens back to the days when super groups hypnotized the world with bass driven ensembles and a full-bodied sound that reigned supreme.  Once you listen to the group, you’ll understand that fo/mo/deep plays music like it’s meant to be … hot, incalculable and emotionally satisfying.

Imagine painting a picture with your favorite colors, mixing and blending them until just the right shade and feel. That is what listening to Copacetic is like. A “just-right” sound that is both soothing and exciting to hear. Whether it’s a jazz standard or an instrumental version of a classic soul song, the group’s approach is always a unique mix that’s pleasing to the ear and intriguing to the mind. A special blend of sonic java. Each of the members write and arrange music and the group truly enjoys shaping familiar tunes with their smooth sound, as well as contributing original selections to their repertoire.
